Font Notes:
The Kronijk van het Historisch Gezelschap gevestigd te Utrecht, Dertiende Jaargang 1857, Derde serie, Derde deel, Utrecht, Kemink en Zoon, 1857 reports a baptismal font found close to the dike south of the village of Middeloord, between Kennum and Sierop, a baptismal font was once found. According to the memory of the supervisor Gorter, who knew her in his youth, this consisted of hard stone, approximately one cubit square, and 0.30 to 0.40 cubits deep. Long ago, it was first partly smashed to pieces by the peasants, and then thrown over the dike near the Nieuwland as a hindrance when plowing the land, of which in 1857 some fragments could still be seen on the spot. [NB: we have no information on the present whereabouts of those font fragments].
