A communication from Pol Herman to BSI (e-mail of 4 Februay 2022) informed that around 1862, the local notary J.L. Kikkert found a fragment of a 14th century Mosan font in the moat of the former castle. He gave it to the Royal Historical Society at Amsterdam, and it was displayed in an exposition in 1865. Pol Herman added: "I could only found a sketch from 1862, see annex. I am still inquiring at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam if any trace of this fragment exists today. I was struck by the prominently chiselled pointed ear on the side of the head. I haven't seen this often. An example is the loose head of Maasbree that is lost in the depot of the Maastricht museum. It must be from the same hand?"
