Font Notes:
Voorloopige lijst der Nederlandsche monumenten van geschiedenis en kunst. Deel VIII, I. De provincie Limburg (Amby-Meer). Algemeene Landsdrukkerij, Den Haag / A. Oosthoek, Utrecht 1926 reports a bluestone octagonal baptismal font with beaten brass lid [i.e., the font of ca. 1800 in use], but mentions an additional older cylindrical stone baptismal font in the cellar of the rectory. J.F. van Agt's Zuid-Limburg uitgezonderd Maastricht, J.F. van Agt. Staatsdrukkerij- en Uitgeverijbedrijf, Den Haag, 1962 gives the same information as above and gives the location of the old font as the former rectory on "Op de Bies 2". J.F. van Agt's Zuid-Limburg. Vaals, Wittem en Slenaken (1983) reports that the baptismal font in Eys is made of Namur stone, hollowed out cylindrically and hemispherically, for which object a possible date in the 11th century is suggested; the same source gives the fonts at Oud-Valkenburg and Berg en Terblijt as cognates. The entry for this church in Kerkgebouwen in Limburg [https://www.kerkgebouwen-in-limburg.nl/kerken/berg-en-terblijt/monulphus-en-gondulphus] [accessed 7 February 2022] informs that the present font in use in this church is from ca. 1800. [NB: we have no information on the present whereabouts of the 11th-century(?) font reported earlier in the rectory cellar]. [NB: the present site of Op de Bies 2, 6325 EH Berg en Terblijt, Netherlands in Huispedia.nl is described as a residential building built in 1716]
