Font Notes:
Noted in E.H. Ter Kuile's Twente (1934) reports in the entry for the Dutch Reformed Church of Weerselo (formerly dedicated to Saint Remigius) a sandstone baptismal font of the 16th century, now [i.e., ca. 1934] in the garden of the R.K. rectory in Vroomshoop, according to the friendly report of the Very Rev. Mr A.E. Rientjes in Maarsen probably came from this church. A communication from Pol Herman to BSI (e-mail of 28 January 2022) notes: "In the church of Weerselo presently stands a 12th century Bentheimer font, that was once outside of the church, and was used as water collector under a gutter from the church roof. It was reinstated as baptismal font during the restoration works (1932-1935). Maybe the 16th century font was then moved to Vroomshoop? I have asked for more information at the local historical society, no answer yet." [cf. BSI entry for Weerselo for the old baptismal font there].
