The following description and notes were provided to BSI by Pol Herman (e-mail of 5 January 2022): prior to the font of 1698, there was an earlier gothic Mosan font in the church of Nederweert. It was moved to Ohé before 1880. In an article "Het Duvelke van het Zuiden", written in 1918 under the pseudonym of "Deamon Meridianus", the National Archivist A.J.A. Flament complains as follows: The baptismal font of Nederweert escaped to my regret and was moved to the church of Ohe-en-Laak. The font at Ohé is not (yet ?) octagonal, therefore it should be early gothic? It reminds me of the font at the Bonnefanten museum in Maastricht, that does not have the arches. Although the heads at Bonnefanten are cruder, the heads look alike. Also the "hats" are identical. The material of both fonts has another colour than the usual Mosan bluestone (compare basin and base of Ohé).
