Church Notes: site excavated since 1918; Stobi was an episcopal see by 325
Font Notes:
Baptismal font of the above-ground piscina type, round inside and out; the materials appear to be stone and brick, with outer marble(?) covering. The font is located in the centre of the round baptistery, of which some parts of the exterior walls have survived. The site notes describes the church as the Episcopal Basilica, chiefly dating from the 4th through the 6th centuries; the baptistery is located towards the south side of the basilica. It appears to have been destroyed in the late-6th century.
