There is an entry for Ashburton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SX7679/ashburton/] [accessed 2 January 20220]; it mentions neither priest nor church in it. The entry for this church in History England [Listing NGR: SX7552769759] notes: "Parish church. Early or mid C15 (tower before 1449); restored by G E Street 1882-3 [...] Marble font, 1840." [NB: we have no information on the earlier font here].
