The Loe Giesen site [http://www.loegiesen.nl/toponiemen/BEESEL-K.htm#Gertrudiskerk] [accessed 28 December 2021] reports the discovery of a fragment of a limestone baptismal font suggesting an early church also at Beesel> With the help of Pol Herman we have been able to get information and images of the fragment from Wiel Luys, a source in the Netherlands: "Hierbij een tweetal foto's van een kop van de doopvont die gevonden is. Ik heb nog andere foto's uit een andere hoek. Mocht het nodig zijn dan hoor ik dit gaarne. Als je iets meer kunt vertellen over de kop dan is dit welkom." (e-mail of 14 December 2021 from Wiel Luys to Pol Herman forwarded to BSI). Pol Herman comments: "this looks like Mosan 1150-1175" [cf. BSI entry for Beesel No. 1 for the later font in the parish church of Beesel but believed to be originally form Ouddorp].
