The entry for this village in the Enciclopedia del románico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_SANTA_MARÍA_DE_GAROÑA.pdf] [accessed 22 November 2021] notes: "iglesia, dedicada a la Asunción de María [...] obedece a dos grandes momentos constructivos: por un lado la campaña tardorrománica, datada en torno a los primeros años del siglo XIII, cuando se alzó el grueso del edificio y por otro la fase correspondiente a la segunda mitad del siglo XVI cuando tuvieron lugar las obras de acondicionamiento y reforma de su primitiva fábrica", but mentions no font in it. The font consists of a roughly hemispherical basin decorated with a single roll moulding all around except where a Greek cross has been carved [at a later date?]; raised on a round pedestal stem and an oval lower base; the workmanship is very crude and the font is damaged in several areas, with rough cement repairs. No cover present.
