Described and illustrated in the Oud-Castricum Beeldbank [https://oud-castricum.nl/beeldbank/large/004/004207.jpg] [accessed 16 November 2021] as a stone font bearing the date 1519 ["Op het doopvont staat het jaartal 1519"]. The baptismal font consists of an octagonal basin with moulded sides, one of which bears the date 1519, raised on an octagonal pedestal base with a plain stem and a moulded lower base. The basin interior has a metal [copper?] lining or insert in it. There is no font cover present. Pol Herman informs in a communication to BSI (e-mail of 14 November 2021): "the source 'De Speelwagen', 5e jaargang, 1950, No. 12, pagina 370-371. Uitgave: Historische Genootschappen in Hollands Noorderkwartier reported that of the old decoration and furnishings of the church, only the Gothic baptismal font from the year 1519 remains, which, however, serves upside down as a pedestal for the modern pulpit., but later photographs show the baptismal font has later been removed from under the pulpit. It is standing presently as a separate object in the church."
Credit and Acknowledgements: We are grateful to Pol Herman for bringing this font to our attention and for his help in documenting it
