Church Notes: a semi-hidden Cathlic church existed on Breedeweg until its demolition in 1858; new RC church 1858; 1910 new larger church built right next to the former building, dedicated 1911; restored 2000s -- both RC and Reformed churches are dedicated to St Pancras
Described and illustrated in the Oud-Castricum Beeldbank [https://oud-castricum.nl/beeldbank/large/004/004207.jpg] [accessed 16 November 2021] as a stone font topped with a complex wooden cover outside the church; the cover, dated to the 16th century is said to have originated in the previous church; its restoration having been done by Th. Vlaarkamp, a parishoner who invester over 242 hours in its restoration [=Voor in de kerk rechts staat het doopvont. Dit doopvont waarvan de voet en de deksel uit hout bestaat en het vont van geschilderd steen, heeft het beeld van Johannes de Doper met clipeus {schild} waarop Lam Gods met kruis. Het prachtige gebeeldhouwde houten deksel is gerestaureerd door de parochiaan Th. Vlaarkamp en heeft minstens 242 uur in beslag genomen. Het deksel is afkomstig van de vorige kerk en dateert uit de zestiende eeuw.] The font itself consists of a stone basin of octagonal shape, the side panels decorated with busy floral and/or foliage motifs; the slender pedestal base is made of wood. The towering font cover is managed via a metal arm secured to the wall.
