The fragment of a stone baptismal font was reported found in burial vault 52-1-28 in the archaeological excavations undertaken on the site of the Buytink furniture store destroyed by fire in March 1982; buried under it was the 13th-century Franciscan monastery [source: Dordrecht Ondergronds 79, Franciscaners op de Voorstraat : een archeologische opgraving van het 13e-eeuwse Dordtse Minderbroederklooster, Oudemannenhuis en woonhuizen, by M.C. Dorst, Gemeente Dordrecht, Cluster Ruimtelijke Kwaliteit/Vakteam Erfgoed/Archeologie, 2018, p. 139]. Pol Herman, who supplied the infomation and reference above in a 10 November 2021 e-mail to BSI, informs: "The current whereabouts of this find are unknown. Object has not been documented." A further communication from Pol Herman [same date]: " M.C. Dorst, Gemeente Dordrecht, Cluster Ruimtelijke Kwaliteit/Vakteam Erfgoed/Archeologie confirmed to me today that the fragment has effectively disappeared without leaving any trace.
It is mentionned on the field drawing made during the archeological excavations, and it is listed in the inventory of the retrieved objects, but then it vanished. Maybe it is stored in the wrong place in a museum depot, waiting to be found."
