A brief article published on 28 December 2017 in the ED Nieuwsmedia [https://www.ed.nl/eindhoven/doopvont-uit-catharinakerk-in-eindhoven-deed-het-ook-prima-als-kneedkom~adfabf69/] [accessed 9 November 2021] informed that a stone basin was being transferred to the church from a garden in Mierlo; the font will not replace the present modern font in use in the nave, but it will be located in a permanent archaeological museum inside the church. The baptismal font may have been revovered by the town's baker when the old church was demolished in 1860, and used in its bakery as a dough kneeding vat. The font was later given to the Slegers family of Mierlo, who installed it in their garden. Upon learning that the house was about to be sold Laurens Mulkes and the archaeologist Nico Arts managed to recover the font to be restored to Catharinakerk. The archaeologist suggested the date of the font could be ca. 1800. The object is a plain octagonal basin with rounded underbowl.
