An article 'Neuer wichtiger Fund - Frühmittelalterliches Taufbecken an der St. Remigiuskirche in Ingelheim entdeckt', published in the Mainzer Bistumsnachrichten Nr. 24, 3. Juli 2013, announced te discovery of an Early Christian baptismal font in this church. Details of the discovery and the sunken piscina also released in July 2013 in Archaeologie-Online [www.archaeologie-online.de/nachrichten/ein-fruehmittelalterliches-taufbecken-in-ingelheim-entdeckt-2306/] [accessed 20 October 2021]. The present baptismal font in use was made of sandstone in 1721; it consists of a roughly hemispherical basin decorated with large ribs, on a moulded square pedestal base; dome metal cover with cross finial.
