Church Notes: there may have been a church here as early as 1107, a date carved in an old beam from the demolished medieval church; later church of the 13thC much enlarged and modified 1776; present stone church consecrated 1882; renovated 1968
Noted in Blomqvist (1929) as a Villstadtypen font, in his section on 'Figurlösa' fonts. Noted in Hallbäck (1966). Inventoried and illustrated in Borg (2002) as a baptismal font made of sandstone ca. 1200, in the 'Villstadsgruppen', with cognate fonts in that group. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 910621F4] as a baptismal font made of sandstone ca, 1200 by a regional workshop / Västergötland, an exceptionally well-made font with thin sides carved from a single block. No cover present. Baptismal dish of brass from 1946.
