Church Notes: present building is a 1780s re-building of an earlier church; modified 1834;
Described and illustrated in Blomqvist (1929) as a baptismal font made of three blocks of sandstone and located at the time in the Växjö museum; Blomqvist includes it in his section on 'Finvider' and a metal band is reported around the basin; Blomqvist mentions the inscription on it and gives several versions of it made by several Runic experts. Listed and illustrated in Borg (2002) also in the 'Finvidergruppen', with date ca. 1150. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 910619F1] as a baptismal font made of sandstone in the second half of the 12th century by Finvider and inscribed "Finvider högg detta kar på Dyreberg". No cover present. Runic inscription on the centre ring: "Finnved högg denna funt på Djuraberg". The Samnordisk runtextdatabas (rundata 2.5) gives transliteration: "÷ finviþir hiog þæta kar : a : diura:biærh:e". The RUNES site [https://www.runesdb.eu/find-list/d/fa/q////6/f/4716/c/fec47da555be5e2df3de9811c89e739e/] [accessed 10 September 2021] gives English translation of the inscription: "Finnviðr cut this font on Dýraberg(?)"
