Church Notes: 12th-13thC(?) medieval church said to have been founded by the Cistercians of Herrevadskloster; modified 15th, 18th and 19thC; renovated 1951.
Described in Tynell (1913-1921). Baptismal font of sandstone consisting of a plain roughly cylindrical basin raised on a moulded round-to-square pedestal base; a palmette decorates two angles of the lower base; while the other two are decorated with heads, one human and one animal. No cover present. The entry for this church in Svenskakyrkan [https://www.svenskakyrkan.se/hjarnarp-tastarp/tastarp] [accessed 21 August 2021] describes the font here as being about the same age as the church [i.e., ca. 1200?] a round basin with animal and human heads on the base [NB: the basin does not look like the one in the early drawing [cf. ImagesArea]]. The octagonal baptismal dish was made of brass in the 17th century.
