The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 3 May 2021] notes: "iglesia, dedicada a san Martín, obispo, renacentista [...] La portada es renacentista [...] La pila, buena, es románica, con cenefa vegetal, gallones y avenerada por dentro, con pie y base circulares". Burgos, Vol. I. pp. 607-608 (Aguilar de Campoo, 2002) [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_VILLALBILLA_DE_VILLADIEGO.pdf] [accessed 3 May 2021]: “En el ángulo septentrional, a los pies del templo, bajo el coro y protegida por reja de madera, se conserva un notable ejemplar de pila bautismal de traza románica. Labrada en un bloque de caliza, destaca por sus más que generosas dimensiones, de 143 cm de diámetro y 72 cm de altura con el semienterrado tenante circular sobre el que apea la copa. Tiene forma semiesférica, mostrándose interior y exteriormente gallonada y ornándose al exterior, junto a la embocadura, con la recurrente cenefa de tallo ondulante del que brotan hojitas. Su cronología, como la de los restos constructivos antes señalados, es tardía, debiendo situarse ya en el primer tercio del siglo XIII”. The concave pattern of the basin interior suggests indeed a late dating.
