Font Notes:
The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 11 April March 2021] notes: "La iglesia, dedicada a San Andrés, es renacentista [...] la pila es románica con gajos simples". [NB: the nearby 13thC(?) Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Gorejo, in Ayuelas de Abajo, is reported as having Romanesque remains [="conserva restos románicos"] but we have no information on its status as regards liturgical survices or furnishings]. The font consists of a roughly-hemispherical basin decorated with a pattern of broad ribs on the outside, plain on the inside; the base appears octagonal and is semi-buried in the present flooring, as is the plinth below. No cover present, nor is there any evidence of anchoring hardware on the rim. This font is probably dated to the fabric of the church, the 15th century. Also in the church is a holy-water stoup; it consists of a plain hemispherical basin raised on an octagonal-to-square pedstal base and a detached moulded square lower base; it is a composite object, but the basin could be medieval.
