Church Notes: wooden medieval church replaced with stone church with wooden tower in the 1770s
Noted in Hallbäck (1959) as a baptismal font made of soapstone in the 13th century, probably a composite object since. not only are the two blocks, basin and base, of a different colour stone, but the basin has no drain while the base does. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 930712F1] as a baptismal font of the Dalslandsgruppen made of soapstone in the 13th century; the SHM entry remarks on the darker hue on the sides of the basin but does not comment on the possiblity of it being a composite font of two unrelated blocks [cf. supra]. [NB: the darker colour of the basin sides could be added paint, as the SHM points out, but having a drained base beneath an undrained basin makes little sense, unless they were, as Hallbäck (ibid.) suggests, unrelated blocks originally].
