Font Notes:
Cauldron-shaped bronze basin date 1529 by an inscription listed and illustrated in Medeltidens bildvärd [https://medeltidbild.historiska.se/medeltidbild/visa/foremal.asp?objektId=930506F2] [accessed 3 November 2025]; it is a cauldron-shaped basin roughly cylindrical; it has ring handles at opposite ends on the sides; a running inscription on a band below the rim includes the year 1529, the name "Olaus Andreæ", probably the donor, as well as a number of floral (?) medallions between sections of the text; on the lower half are a series of similar medallions all around; the cross-shaped stone base is modern. The SHM entry (ibid.) notes that a foundry mark on the basin identifies the creator as Petrus André from Västerås, a mark is also found on coins in Jäder, Södermanland and Orsa, Dalarna (obj-nr 951014F5 and 930620F1 respectively in the SHM), and on a number of church bells ["ett gjutarmärke på cuppan identifierar upphovsmannen som Petrus André från Västerås, hans märke finns också på funtar i Jäder, Södermanland och Orsa, Dalarna (obj-nr 951014F5 resp 930620F1) samt på ett antal kyrkklockor"]. Noted and illustrated in Svenska Kyrkan [https://www.svenskakyrkan.se/vasteras/bjorksta-kyrka-lokal] [accessed 3 November 2025]. The entry for the font at Orsa (Dalarna) in SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 930620F1] notes that the fonts at Björksta (Västmanland), Jäder (Södermanland) and Orsa (Dalarna) were made by Petrus André [Andrae]. Illustrated in the Västmanlands läns museum [https://digitaltmuseum.org/021017942038/bjorksta-sn-kyrkan-dopfunt] [accessed 3 November 2025]. The same SK source [cf. supra] mentions a 17th-century baptismal dish ["dopfat"] made probably in what is now Belgium; it was donated by the churchwarden Daniel Hansson in Almsta, and is currently on display in the parish treasury in Västerås Cathedral ["Sannolikt tillverkat i nuvarande Belgien under 1600-talets första hälft eller mitt. Det centrala motivet visar hur Abraham ska offra sin son Isak. Fatet som skänktes av kyrkvärden Daniel Hansson i Almsta, är förnärvarande utställt i pastoratets gemensamma Skattkammare i Västerås domkyrka."]
