Church Notes: present church replaced an earlier one on a new site, to the south of it; the older church was demolished in 1865; the present church was known until 1920 as Varnums kyrka but when the new church in Vara was completed this one got its old name, Önums kyrka, back; renovated 1948
Noted in Hallbäck (1971). Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 920522F5] as a Dalslandsgruppen baptismal font made of soapstone ca. 1200; the font consists of a round slightly tapering basin decorated with a band of saw-tooth below the upper rim, and a thin rope moulding towards the lower end of the sides; there is a rope moulding towards the top of the stem; the two-stem lower base is decorated with saw-tooth pattern; the font has repaired damage and a part of the stem is a modern insert replacement. No cover present.
