Font Notes:
Noted in Hallbäck (1971). Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 920508F3] as a baptismal font made of sandstone in the first half of the 13th cntury by a regional workshop. The font consists of a roughly cyclindrical basin with a chamfered underbowl, raised on a round pedestal base with a splaying slightly concave base; all plain. No cover present. The March 1893 drawing of this church by Ernst Wennerblad shows a baptismal font outside the church, obviously disused at the time; two other medieval fonts also appear outside this church in two of Uno Otterstedt (1888-1969)'s photographs [cf. ImagesArea]; none of these images correspond to to the present font in Varola's church [NB: we have no information of where those other fonts came from, nor what their present whereabouts are].
