Illustrated by Oscar M. Ruiz Pérez, in Cantabria Románica [www.cantabriaromanica.com/articulos/la-asuncion-de-villamoñico] [accessed 7 March 2021]. An abandoned stone basin of a baptismal font stands disused outside the church; it is roughly hemispherical in shape and had a torus-scotia-torus forming the upper rim, but this area is much damaged and missing chunks now; on one side of the basin is a Maltese cross inscribed in a double concentric circle; the basi is missing. The abandoned basin shows full of soil and detritus, uncared for. [NB: this may be the remains of the medieval font of the original Romanesque church here -- cf. BSI entry for Villamonico No. 2 for the later font now in use in this church]
