Benedictine monastery (female) of the Romanesque period; re-built 14thC and used as parish church; 16thC paintings [listed in SIPA [ref.: IPA.00001921] -- documents in SIPA inform the font moved from its original location of difficult access to the narthex in 1725; visitation of 1726 confirms move carried out; visitation of 1739 demanded cleaning of the font
The present font is situated in the north corner of the narthex, after it was ordered out of its original location by a visitation in 1725 to allow for proper access to it; it consists of an octagonal basin with a very tall chamfer on a short octagonal pedestal base, all plain. The fitted wooden font cover is octagonal, flat and plain, and appears to be secured and locked to the side of the basin, as it is common in baptismal fonts in this country. Font and plinth appear to made of granite. [cf. BSI entry for Serzedelo No. 1 for an earlier font located outside the church]
