The stone consists of a roughly hemispherical basin decorated on the upper surface of the rim with a rope moulding carved in between two plain round mouldings, giving it an elegant look, especially because the carving is very regular and neat; the sides of the basin and underbowl are fully covered with a scalloped pattern which, unlike the rim work, is quite irregular, whether intentional or not, with some of the scallops being flat, shallow and tall, whereas others are bulging and short; the underbowl ends in a thick roll moulding; there are repqirs to the upper rim at opposite ends, damage probably caused by former metal anchorings for an old cover; on a plain cylindrical pedestal base; the flooring appears to have been raised, and there may be a plinth hidden beneath it now. No cover present.
