Ruiz Pérez, in Cantabria Románica [www.cantabriaromanica.com] [accessed 17 February 2021] notes: "bella pila bautismal de indudable cronología románica aunque extraña por no encontrar en todo el valle ningún paralelismo tipológico con otras pilas del entorno. Se trata de una pila extraña sobre todo por dos detalles, la escasa altura de su cuba, que se reduce a dos tercios de lo que viene siendo normal en las pilas bautismales del entorno de Valderredible, así como por su fuste. Se trata de un monolito cuadrangular con columnillas adosadas en las esquinas. Cuba y fuste reposan sobre dos escalones circulares sobre el firme de la Iglesia." The upper rim of the basin appears too sharp and unblemished, so it may have been machine-tooled all around; the basin has a thick roll moulding at the bottom, and is raised on a square pedestal with angle colonnettes; the plinth, as indicated above, is made up of two circular steps. No cover present.
