Church Notes: present church built in 1768 after the villages of Mårby and Hånger were merged and their old churches demolished
A stone font was moved from one of the old churches into the new Bjurum church building of 1768. Noted in Hallbäck (1971). Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 920527F4] as a 'Skaragruppen' baptismal font made of sandstone in the second half of the 12th century. The font is now [2020] located in the northwest corner of the nave, beneath the west gallery, and appears to be disused in faveour of the later wooden font here. The font installed in the new 1768 church is contemporary with it and made of painted wood, an octagonal basin on a square pedestal base with a constructional colonnette in each corner.
