The basin of a baptismal font of stone is shown in a 1926 B&W photograph by Henrik Alm, in the Kulturmiljöbild, Riksantikvarieämbetet [https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sörby_kyrka_-_KMB_-_16000200063493.jpg] [accessed 28 October 2020]; the image is captioned: "Source caption: "Sörby kyrka [...] Dopfunt, medeltida. Numera som blomkruka i Sörbytorps park." The object displayed appears to consists of two pieces: a roughly hemispherical basin of stone the has a double flat moulding at the upper rim, and a row of round arch-heads around the lower side and underbowl, the carving being shallow; it is raised on a stone with a circular pattern od large petal-like motifs; as indicated in the noted caption [cf. supra], the object is shown serving as planter in a park in Sörbytorp. No entry found for this font in the in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld. A reference to the basin of a 12th-century stone font is made in the Antikvarisk rapport by Jörgen Kling (Malmö Kulturmiljö , 2006) [https://docplayer.se/22686105-Sorby-kyrka-antikvarisk-rapport-sorby-socken-vinslovs-forsamling-hassleholms-kommun-skane-lan-invandig-restaurering.html] [accessed 28 October 2020]. Kyrkor i Lunds stift [www.kyrkoguiderlundsstift.se/skane_453_text.html] [accessed 28 October 2020] informs that this baptismal font served for a number of years as a planter in Sörbytorp's garden before it was returned to the church in 1954; the basin is probably medieval, but the base was made in the mid-1950s when thel font was moved back into the church [="Dopfunten tjänade under ett antal år som blomsterkruka i Sörbytorps trädgård innan den 1954 återbördades till kyrkan. Funten är förmodligen medeltida, men foten ät tillverkad i mitten av 1950-talet i samband med att dopfunten flyttades in i kyrkan."] [NB: we have not located any recent photographs of the font but there is a YouTube tour of the church showing the old basin on its new base inside the church at whttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6inmn_nLXtE [accessed 28 October 2020]
