Font Notes:
There are two 1921 B&W photographs by Sanfrid Welin [https://digitaltmuseum.se/021017193251/1m16-a9922] and [https://digitaltmuseum.se/021017193229/1m16-a9920] [accessed 2 October 2020] that show the base of a stone baptismal font in a field; the photographs are captioned "Norra Lundby socken. Valle härad. Västergötland. Nedre delen av dopfunt i Rörets trädgård,på gränsen till Skarke (antagligen från Skarke kyrka)" [NB: the second photograph adds: "Fot till dopfunt"], indicating that the object is the base of the baptismal font from the disappeared parish church at Skarke; this church is said to have been destroyed by the Danes in 1566; the nearby monastery church of Varnhem took over the parochial role afterwards. [NB: some sources suggest that the font now at Varnhem [cf. BSI entry] may have been originally the font at the Skarke parish church -- was this attribution made perhaps on the misguided assumption that monastery churches did not have fonts?].
