Scene Description: the sorry state of the medieval font can be fully appreciated here; though undated the photograph must have been taken after 1891, when the basin sides still showed discernible detail, and 1935 when the font was restored

Noted and illustrated in Hallbäck (1966) as a baptismal font made of stone in the 13th century; it had been very badly damaged and disused but was partially repaired and installed in the new church in the 1935 restoration. No entry found for this font in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld. Illustrated in a 1891 B&W photograph by Sanfrid Welin in the VGM Foto collection, Västergötlands museum [https://digitaltmuseum.se/021017201688/bjorketorps-sn-dopfunt-pa-kyrkogarden] [accessed 30 September 2020]. The restored font is back in use in the new church. A brass cover is used on it, a graded dome with a ring handle, as well as a baptismal dish of the same metal..
