Font Notes:
A font is shown inside the church at Mitjaran in 1917 ["fotografía estereoscòpica de Josep Salvany (1917) Biblioteca de Catalunya"] [www.monestirs.cat/monst/varan/va08miga/Migaran-10.jpg] [accessed 13 September 2020]. The font appears to consists of a roughly hemispherical basin raised on a pedestal base; the font is located inside the church, by the stairs leading to the gallery, just inside the entranceway; the resolution of the photograph does not make the details of the font discernible. We no longer know the whereabouts the basin of this font, but there is a pedestal base in the Museo del Valle de Arán that is identified on the label as the base of a Romanesque baptismal font from the church of Santa Maria de Mijaran, dated 12th-13th century; the pedestal base appears to be almost round but it has vertical protrusions on the sides; these protrusions are decorated, as is the visible front of the base, with a four-petal leaf inscribed in a circle in the centre, surrounded by five fleurs-de-lis inscribed in semi-circles all around; additionally, just below the centre motif, is a long-stemmed flower with fleurs-de-lis at both ends of the stem; this base has a large drain hole through it, which would have connected with the drain in the missing basin.
