Noted in Hallbäck (1963). Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 920429F1] as a baptismal font consisting of two pieces: a soapstone cylindrical basin raised on a pedestal base made of granit, the whole dated to the second half of the 12th century; the SHM (iid.) remarks that the lower base is missing. No cover present. A lower base has survived of a baptismal font here, circular and with graded mouldings, as documented in a B&W photograph taken by Sanfrid Welin in the 1890s [cf. ImagesArea]. The three pieces do not appear to have belonged together at any point; the basin appears to have two scenes of the life of Christ cycle: the Baptism and the Cucifixion; the rest of the surface is decorated with vegetal motifs between pairs of mouldings; the pedestal base has a number of varied crosses on its sides; if anything this base of the font somewhat resembles another object in this church, a medieval (?) holy-water stoup [cf. BSI entry for Odenas No. 2]. There is a set of B&W photographs of this font taken in 1962 by Claes Claesson in the VM Foto collection of Vänersborgs museum; the set includes the holy-water stoup listed in BSI as well [https://digitaltmuseum.org/search/?aq=place:"sverige/landskap/västergötland/ödenäs"+owner:"S-VM"] [accessed 12 September 2020].
