sacrament?
Scene Description: Penance? -- the scene appears to include a kneeling person by a seated cleric (bishop?) with staff, as noted in Hallbäck (1966) [cf. FontNotes]; not clear what the round shape above the kneeling person's back represents -- or, is it an offering being made by the kneeling person to the seated cleric?

Scene Description: Hallbäck (1966) suggests that the three unidentified haloed figures, one with a raised cross, standing behind what could be interpreted to be the side of a boat,
may refer to the legend of St Nicholas [cf. FontNotes]

Hallbäck (1966) reports a baptismal font of a group similar to the one at Molla; on the basin sides are a pair of back-to-back animals, another pair of such but in the 'regardant' position, pair of facing animals, kneeling person by a cleric (bishop?) with staff, and three unidentified figures, probably haloed with a large cross between two of them;, all of which may refer to the legend of St Nicholas; the author refers to Otto Janse's suggestion that there are similarities with some fonts in south and central England, including the one at Winchester Cathedral. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 920612F4] as a baptismal font made of sandstone ca. 1200 by a regional hand. The location of the font inside the church appears to have been rather fluid; originally it would nave been by the entranceway, as fonts normally were; there is a 1914 photograph by Abders Roland [cf. ImagesArea] showing the font by the doorway; other photographs (ibid.) show it outside the church abd, later(?) inside, at the northeast corner of the nave; the most recent photograph (ibid.) we have, by Barbro Thörn, shows it located at the northeast corner of the nave, between the upright piano and the communion railing.
