Century and Period: 12th century (late?), Romanesque
Workshop/Group/Artisan: Öhrmästaren? [Blomqvist]
Cognate Fonts: some similarities with Hemmesjö [SHM];
Church Notes: originally a 12thC wooden church [a wooden structure in the churchyard may be part of the original church]; late-medieval stone church, modified 17th and 18thC; tower added 19thC
Noted in Blomqvist (1929) as a font attributable to Öhrmästaren, a Jutlandic master. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 910619F2] as a baptismal font made of sandstone in the second half of the 12th century, with a later inscription "N O S : 1750" probably indicating it had been used as a tombstone at some point; the SHM entry questions Blamqvist's attribution to Öhrmästaren [cf. supra] an suggests instead certain similarities with motifs at Hemmesjö.
