Hallbäck (1971) mentions some similarities of this font with fonts of Roglinusgruppen, but the entry in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 920620F3] notes that, unlike the fonts in that group, the font at Sveneby lacks the figural ornamentation and other decorations; instead the SHM entry suggests that it was made in the 12th century by a regional hand. Photographs of the font in context taken before and after the 1936 restoration show the font on two different spots at the east end of the nave, some show it on the left [north] side, by the pulpit, while others show it on the opposite side of the nave, on the south side, by the old altar retable; the latter position appears to be the present [August 2020] one.
