Font Notes:
Noted in Hallbäck (1971). Illustrated in a 1981 photograph by Lars Hasselberg [https://digitaltmuseum.se/021017229725/1m16-d6952] [accessed 23 June 2020]. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 920627F5] as a baptismal font of the Roglinusgruppen made of sandstone in the mid-12th century; the base is a later replacement. Square cushion-capital shape basin with deep-set carvings on the sides; on three of the sides the curved side has been carved as a snake, all three tiny heads on the upper left side; one of the sides has a partition above the body of the snake, which makes it look like a viking ship, probably intentionally; on that side, to the left of the 'mast' is a pattern of rocks and interlaced scrolls, with a Greek cross and three saw-teeth on the right side; another side has a Greek cross in a circles above the snake body; the side of the right of that has an ibis passant to the right, with some unfinished(?) crude pattern on the upper-left corner and nested chevrons below; the decoration on the fourth side varies: the side is framed in a rope moulding delineating the panel; an additional curved rope moulding appears to have a head and tail of a snake, while the bar across the top has X motif along it; at the centre is another Greek cross; the centre ring moulding, also rope patterned, is badly eroded or damaged; it is part of the basin block; raised now on square truncated-pyramid base with rounded corners, said to have been added in 1957. No cover present.
