Font Notes:
Two medieval baptismal fonts are located in this church, both of which are said to be earlier than the Dominican church dedicated to St. Mary, and therefore probably from elsewhere [would they be from the nearby medieval churches of Sigtuna now in ruins and with fonts not accounted for?]. One of them is located inside the church, at the east end of the nave; the other is located in the west portal. The medieval font in use inside the church, at the east end of the nave, is noted and illustrated in the SHM’s database Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 940707F1] as a "mellansvensk verkstad" baptismal font made of sandstone in the early-13th century. The font consists of a plain cyclindrical basin with a tall underbowl chamfer, also plain, raised on a pedestal base of conical shape with a petterned [braided?] roll moulding atop. No font cover present. The location of the font within the church appears to have changed; in 1898, before the reovations made to this church in 1905 and 1970, the font was located in the southest corner of the nave, by the chancel steps [cf. ImagesArea]; in September 2013 the font is shown at the west end of the nave, beneath the westernmost arch of the north arcade [cf. ImagesArea].
