Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in Sveriges kyrkor: Närke (Bd. I, hft. 2: 244, 250) as the limestone cylindrical basin from a Romanesque baptismal font dated probably to the 12th century. [NB: a later SK entry (Bd. I, hft. 6: 874) gives the location of this basin, and of two other pieces from this church, as the SHM, in Stockholm, and the inventory number as "inv nr 8165" for the three of them. The font basin was brought back into the church in 1949 prior to the 1956 restoration and provided with a new base (ibid., p. 877)]. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 930816F2] as the surviving basin of a "mellansvensk verkstad" baptismal font made of sandstone [cf. supra] ca, 1200; the SHM entry notes that the new replacement base is of a poor design for this type of basin.
