Font Notes:
A sandstone baptismal font of the Genarpsgruppen is reported and illustrated by Tynell (1913- ) in Västra Strö, but said to be originally from the unused church in nearby Näs; the font is shown as having a roughly hemispherical basin decorated with a rope or braid moulding around the rim, a band of linked palmettes around the sides and shallow ribbed pattern on the underbowl; the base is round to square, with scalloped pattern above a roll moulding, and spurs at the angles of the square lower base. The Svenskakyrkan entry for this church [www.svenskakyrkan.se/eslov/vastra-stro-kyrka] [accessed 6 May 2020] reports only a baptismal dish ["dopfatet"] of the 16th century, not a font in it. No entry found for this font under either of the toponyms in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld. Present font in use is modern.
