Described and illustrated by Ellen Fryklund in Roosval (1917) where the basin is identified as sandstone and the base as limestone. In Hallbäck (1966). Noted and illustrated in the SHM’s database Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 950519F6] as a baptismal font made of sandstone in the early-13th century by a provincial workshop. The sides of the basin have a the Temptation and Fall scene that includes a Runic inscription; the rest of the basin side is covered by an arcade of round arches with figures in them, and with a variety of floral or foliage motifs in the spandrels; the much-damaged base is round-to-square, with a roll moulding atop, much of which has been lost; one of the sides of the base has a nice vine scroll incised on it, but the whole work is crudely done. The font has been located at the SHM since 1870 but a concrete cast was made of it in 1952 and is now at the parish church in Borgstena.
