The entry for this parish in the RCAHM (Wales and Monmouthsire, VI, Marioneth, 1921) p. 20 reports: "The font is circular with a cable moulding at the junction with the stem, and another halfway up the bowl. It is probably of the 12th century, or even a little earlier, but it has been retooled and given a modern appearance." The entry for this church in COFLEIN [https://coflein.gov.uk/en/site/43882/details/st-mael-and-st-suliens-church-corwen] [accessed 23 January 2020] notes: "The church is thought to have been an early medieval mother church. It was first mentioned in documents of 1222, and the fact that the church was noted to have sixteen clerics signifies its continuing importance at that time. An early medieval pillar stone, inscribed with a linear Latin cross, has been reset within the church. [...] The circular font is twelfth century." The tub-shaped font is decorated with a roll moulding at the upper neck of the base, and a rope moulding around the lower end; on a square lower base and a two-step quadrangular plinth. There are two wooden font covers in use: a round and flat one, probably Victorian, and a low octagonal pyramid with carved and inscribed sides, modern, of the 20th century.
