Church Notes: original church said to have existed here 9th-10thC belonging to the 'Missionierungszeit des Sachsenlandes'; no remains extant from it.
Baptismal font of bronze consisting of a round almost hemispherical basin raised on three figural supports set at 120-degree angles; the basin sides are decorated with an arcade of pointed arches but trefoiled intrados; the pointed arches are crocketed and pinnacled, and rest on patterned columns with capitals and bases; linking the arches are slender towers with multiple windows of different shapes; the symbols of the four Evangelists inscribed in medallion-like circles are lined in a row on the west side [NB: the north side of the basin has several (?) figures, at least one of which appears to be a crowned female but we have no access to images of that side of the font]. No cover present; the inner well of the basin has a metal support frame for the use of a baptismal dish.
