Font Notes:
The listing for this church in COFLEIN [NPRN 43897] [https://coflein.gov.uk/en/site/43897/details/st-peters-church-llanbedr] [accessed 27 December 2019] notes: "St Peter's Church was first mentioned in 13th century documents, and originated as a medieval chapel, dependent on Llandanwg (NPRN 43901). Following the abandonment of Landanwg in 1845 it became a parish church. [...] The octagonal font bowl is thought to be post medieval, and rests on a late medieval octagonal shaft. Another octagonal bowl lies loose adjacent to it. Three mortar stones or querns also lie loose beside the font [...] Two small recesses are situated either side of the font, one round-headed, the other square-headed. They are noted to have contained stoups in 1914." The entry for this church in British Listed Buildings [https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/300004782-church-of-st-peter-llanbedr] [accessed 26 December 2019] notes: "Medieval parish church, once a chapel of ease to Llandanwg church; possibly C13, but thought by RCAHMW to be of predominantly late C15 or early C16 construction. [...] The fittings are also late C19 and early C20 and there is an octagonal sandstone font at the W end of the nave." The font consists of an octagonal basin of plain vertical sides, rounded underbowl, on an octagonal pedestal base decorated with a single moulding just above where the lower base becomes square. Ornate octagonal wooden cover with crown-like base and crocketed arrises.
