There is an entry for Ingleby [Arncliffe] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/NZ4400/ingleby-arncliffe/] [accesed 14 August 2019] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (York North Riding, vol. 2, 1923) notes; "The church is first mentioned in a 12th-century grant [...] The old church was pulled down about 1821, in which year [...] the present building, which is in the Gothic style of the period with pointed sash windows, was erected [...] The font is circular and apparently of the same date as the church. The original 12th-century font is now at Newton." [cf. BSI entry for Newton]
