Font Notes:
There are two entries [one is multiple-place] for Crathorne [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/NZ4407/crathorne/] [accessed 17 December 2019] one of which reports a priest and a church in it. The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (York North Riding, vol. 2, 1923) notes: "Arnald de Percy granted the church of Crathorne to Guisborough Priory in the time of Archbishop Thurstan (1114–40) [...] The only ancient parts of the fabric are the north and south walls of the nave, which may be of 14th-century date, but the building contains several fragments of preConquest date, [...] and built in over the south doorway is a hog-back gravestone, which may, however, be of the late 12th century [...] The font and all the fittings are modern." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: NZ4433007559] notes: "C14 Nave incorporating Saxon and C12 fragments. [...] Interior contains several fragments of Saxon sculpture and a C14 effigy"; no font mentioned in it.
