There are three entries [one is multiple-place] for Scackleton [variant spellings] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SE6472/scackleton/] [accessed 2 December 2019] none of which mentions cleric or church in it. The entry for Hovingham parish in the Victoria County History (York North Riding, vol. 1, 1914) mentions the modern church of St. George and notes: "The font was presented from Dalby Church."
