There is an entry for Ganstead [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TA1434/ganstead/] [accessed 30 October 2019] but it mentiones neither cleric nor church in it. The entry for this place in the Victoria County History (York East Riding, vol. 7, 2002) notes: "St. George's chapel, Ganstead, had been built by 1226, possibly to house the Sutton family's chantry, which in that year and again in 1236 Swine priory agreed to supply with a chaplain, clerk, and all other necessities for daily services there. [...] No later evidence of services in Ganstead chapel has been found, but the ruined building was mentioned as late as 1764."
