Scene Description: Source caption: "El personaje humano viste una larga túnica, pudiera lucir corta barba y no es larga su cabellera. Presenta un recogido y devoto semblante, pero sin mirar a la Mano que lo señala. Con las manos puestas delante del pecho, agarra, por debajo de su voluminosa cabeza en alto, una larga culebra. Cuelga el oficio, primero por debajo de su brazo derecho, alargándose luego hasta el pescuezo del Señor, volviendo a quedarle colgada su última parte por el otro lado del cuello. Hay quien identifica la figura de la serpiente con un niño puesto en los brazos de esa figura humana."

Noted and illustrated by Alberto García Roldán in Galicia Pueblo a Pueblo [https://galiciapuebloapueblo.blogspot.com/2019/02/san-martino-de-berselos-baralla.html] [accessed 6 October 2019]. Baptismal font consisting of a roughly hemispherical basin raised on a very short round base; the side are decorated with broad ribs that have ball inserts in the upper spandrels; there is evidence of cover hardware in the upper rim. No cover present. The quadrangular plinth appears to be an altar table as suggested in the source above. The design of the font suggests a later date than the date of the church itself, perhaps later medieval. This font is not mentiond in the Enciclopedia del románico entry for the church [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/LUGO_Berselos.pdf] [accessed 4 August 2022].
