There is an entry for Arden (Hall) [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SE5290/arden-hall/] [accessed 5 September 2019]; it reports a priest, but not a church in it, though there must have been one there [NB: the entry mentions Arden and five other places in it]. The entry for this Benedictine nunnery in the Victoria County History (York, vol. 3, 1974) notes: "About 1150, [...] Peter de Hoton founded the nunnery of St. Andrew at Arden [...] The commissioners supervised the priory on 8 May 1536, and it was suppressed on 25 August following." The [conventual] church is mentioned at least twice in episcopal visitation records referred to in the VCH entry. No remains of the buildings located but a present farm is believed to be where the original site was.
